Saturday, August 23 & Sunday, August 24th
Kids of SteelAdult Try-a-Tri Sprint Triathlon Sprint Duathlon

From Your Bulldog Triathlon Race Director...

On behalf of your 2008 Bulldog Triathlon Weekend’s events committee, thanks to all who participated in the 2008 Bulldog Triathlon weekend on Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24, 2008.

This year’s events we were up in participation numbers over last year and judging by the feedback we received from a number of you over the weekend, we had another successful year in 2008. The weather once again was great, along with decent water temperature / conditions in Lake Erie.

I have to say thanks to Julie Foster, Jon Wild and the crew at Rondeau Provincial Park for again hosting our events: they did a great job and we think Rondeau is one of the best venues for a triathlon that you’re going to find anywhere.
The improvements we made this year on park entry, traffic control, discounts early registration, sturdier bike racks, t-shirts for all participants etc. were well received. We won’t be resting on our laurels though and will be pursuing suggestions you gave us during the weekend.

Finally, on behalf of the children in the C-K YMCA’s strong kids program and the Chatham Y Pool Sharks swim club who benefit from the proceeds from our events, thank you very much.
Hope to see you again next year.

Yours truly,
Jim Loyer

From Your Bulldog Triathlon Race Director...

On behalf of your 2008 Bulldog Triathlon Weekend’s events committee, thank you for your interest in the upcoming 2008 Bulldog Triathlon weekend (Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24, 2008).

This year’s events promise to be even better than last year, although it will be hard to beat the perfect weather we had for the 2007 Sprint Tri and Du events.

We are happy to be continuing in one of the best racing venues in all of southwestern Ontario, Rondeau Provincial Park. Almost all of our committee members are returning and will be more knowledgeable in their respective roles. We’ve already had discussions with the Ontario Parks and Recreation staff from Rondeau on improvements for park entry and traffic control. We’re meeting with our local police force to improve our bike course layout. We’re working hard to give our participants more ‘bang’ for their entry fee dollars (e.g. the $5.00 entry fee discount for OAT members continues, better early bird registration discounts, free t-shirts for all participants etc.) and we’re making improvements to race infrastructure (e.g. sturdier bike racks, mile marker signs etc.)

We do have a limit on the number of competitors we can accomodate, so we encourage you to register early to get your spot, either on our web-site, by mail or in person at the YMCA in Chatham.

As you know, we’re not ‘in it’ for the money as such, with all proceeds from the weekend going to children’s health and wellness programs in Chatham-Kent. As such, we’re hoping to balance costs with a quality weekend that delivers top value to participants and spectators alike. Hope to see you there.

Yours truly,
Jim Loyer

PS: Bulldog has gone 'green' this year: please bring a water bottle for the free refill stations that will be around the venue (we won't be handing out water in bottles this year)
